The Katowice Special Economic Zone
The Katowice Special Economic Zone has acquired over 350 business entities to date. Those entities have invested about PLN 34 billion and employed 76 thousand staff. A further jobs were created around the KSEZ.
The Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSEZ) has 900 ha free investment areas, which allows investors to select the most convenient location. Most of these are in the proximity of international routes: east-west (Lviv-Wrocław-Berlin) and north-south (Gdansk-Cieszyn-Bratislava) and at the junctions of the A1 and A4.
The basic methods of providing support to investors in the KSEZ include public aid in the form of tax concessions for certain capital expenditures or for creating new jobs. The tax concessions that are granted to investors in the KSEZ area are adapted to the rules of similar institutions in other countries of the European Union.
The biggest investments in the area are the factories of Opel, FCA (earlier: Fiat), NGK Ceramics, Roca, Guardian and TRW Poland. Within the area of the Zone, the BPO/IT business sector (Capgemini, Sopra Steria) and R&D services have also been realized and several Class A office buildings have also been opened.
The Katowice Special Economic Zone is the best in Poland and in Europe in the ranking of economic areas - the report by fDi Intelligence (Financial Times Research Centre) in 2015, 2016 and in 2017.
